Coveo's entrance strategy for this market is intriguing: It offers a downloadable 5,000-document trial version that has no expiration date. This product searches local documents, intranets, Microsoft Outlook email, and the Web with a minimal footprint. IDC believes that the midmarket is underserved by the dominant enterprise search vendors. Coveo's strategy may foreshadow an era of disruption from below.
